Spotlight on Service: 17 Groups Helping Veterans Thrive

At Trident, supporting veterans is more than just a mission; it’s personal. Organizations that are committed to helping Veterans are near and dear to our hearts, with 91% of our staff having military affiliations, whether as veterans, reservists, or military spouses. These organizations provide tremendous support. As part of our months-long Veteran Suicide Awareness campaign, this month, it’s our honor to showcase them.

For many of us, our connection to these organizations is personal. We have either benefited from their support or known friends or family that have, so it’s our honor to highlight them today!

Here are our favorite 17 Veteran Organizations that Help Veterans Make their Lives Easier:

  1. Zero8Hundred
    Assists with unemployment and under-employment, lack of affordable housing, injury recovery, and orientation as a civilian for veterans and their families. 
  2. Veterans Bridge Home
    Connecting veterans and their spouses with resources, community, and care you and your family need to thrive.
  3. Operation Healing Forces
    Supporting America’s Special Operations Forces (SOF) with the unique challenges of their deployments and the unseen wounds of war.
  4. Operation Gratitude
    Provides carefully curated care packages to help boost morale and resilience for deployed service members and give them reminders of home.
  5. Navy Safe Harbor Foundation
    Coordinates non-medical care for wounded Navy Veterans, assisting with unexpected needs for their family.
  6. Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors
    Provides compassionate care and comprehensive resources to all those grieving a death in the military or veteran community.
  7. Travis Manion Foundation
    Empowers veterans and families of fallen heroes through mental health and well-being resources.
  8. Operation Home Front
    Supporting military families and their communities, especially with back-to-school supplies and financial assistance.
  9. Fisher House Foundation
    Provides housing near military medical centers for families experiencing a medical crisis, letting them stay closer to their loved ones without worry.
  10. Puppies Behind Bars
    Teaches people who are incarcerated to raise service dogs for wounded veterans and first responders, and explosive-detection canines for law enforcement.
  11. Gary Sinise Foundation
    A hallmark in veteran services, they provide unique programming to entertain, educate, inspire, strengthen, and build community.
  12. Semper Fi and America’s Fund
    Cares for critically wounded, ill, and injured service members, veterans, and their families with one-on-one case management, connection, and lifetime support.
  13. Yellow Ribbon Fund
    Keeps families of service members recovering from severe injuries together with funding for hotel stays, rental cars, and fully furnished apartments while providing transitional services, caregiver training, and health and wellness events.
  14. VetTix
    Provides tickets to events for service members, veterans, and their families, allowing them to attend sporting events, concerts, performing arts, educational, and family activities nationwide.
  15. Bob Woodruff Foundation
    Provides housing, legal services, food, and more while highlighting issues that specifically affect post-911 veterans. 
  16. Homes for our Troops
    Builds and donates specially adapted custom homes nationwide for severely injured post-9/11 Veterans as they rebuild their lives.
  17. Operation Second Chance
    Provides airfare for the families of injured service members and veterans recovering at Walter Reed, in addition to scholarships and assistance with monthly medical bills.
