Capture & Proposal Manager (Washington DC)

 

We are seeking to expand our presence in the DC/Metro area by adding a Capture & Proposal Manager to our team. The Capture & Proposal Manager is responsible for driving client revenue through research, development, and expansion of opportunities within the DoD sector. The position will be responsible for moving opportunities through the capture management process and proposal process by working closely with multiple teams of subject matter experts. This is a full-time position. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

 

Proposal Management (60%)

  • Develop and review proposal strategies and win themes with the Proposal Management Team
  • Assemble proposal teams and suggest internal and external resources
  • Review completed storyboards and proposal section to address requirements and meet customer page limits.
  • Facilitate writing, editing, and rewriting efforts
  • Direct proposal efforts and personnel and engage on Color Teams
  • Communicate proposal requirements and status to senior management
  • Manage proposal response schedule and engage in proposal knowledge management processes
  • Customize customer references and resumes to reflect the specific criteria and requirements in the RFP
  • Monitor all amendments and modifications to the RFP
  • Work on multiple proposals, balancing milestones and due dates
  • Participate in printing, assembling, mailing, and performing as-needed physical delivery
  • Conduct post-proposal debrief analysis to improve or enhance future proposal efforts
  • Maintain re-use libraries and ensure accuracy of current information
  • Document lessons learned and execute actions to produce process improvement and attain higher success rates

 

Capture Management (30%)

  • Engage in capture planning process and contribute to bidding strategy development
  • Populate, validate, and update the Capture Plan
  • Track all opportunities and keep senior management appraised on changes
  • Develop Win Strategies
  • Initiate Teaming Strategies
  • Hold reviews to ensure capture process is moving forward
  • Develop opportunity, key relationships, intelligence, strategy, and actions
  • Move opportunities from capture phase to proposal phase

 

Market Research (10%)

  • Research new opportunities, teaming options, likely competitors, and pricing history as requested by the client
  • Develop data analytics for various contracts

Qualifications:

  • 3 years of business development experience, capture management, and/or technical sales experience within the Federal and Defense Contracting Industry
  • 3 years of proposal writing or 5 years of professional/technical writing
  • 5-7 years of experience managing and tasking diverse teams of various experience levels
  • Direct experience working for/with the DoD is required
  • Demonstrated ability to build, develop, and lead a successful business development team capable of pursuing and closing high-value opportunities
  • Knowledge of defense contractor procurement environment and acquisition strategy related to services and products
  • Demonstrated ability to interact and communicate with client’s executive level management team

Education Requirements:

  • BS/BA degree is required (English, Business, Engineering or Marketing is strongly preferred)

Tech Editor (United States)

 

This is a contractor position (1099) and all work can be conducted virtually. Because this position is remote, candidates must be effective communicators who are comfortable working autonomously and under compressed deadlines.

 

Position Description

The ideal candidate should be able to provide three levels of editing, all performed with the goal of ensuring proposals and presentations are clear, concise, and consistent.

·  Proofreading (Basic): Improves documents by correcting typographical errors and mistakes in grammar, punctuation, style, and spelling.

·  Tech Editing (Intermediate): Improves documents by correcting mechanical errors and standardizing language, in addition to providing proofreading services.

·  Copy Editing (Advanced):  Improves the overall readability and compliance of the proposal by revising or rewriting content. Most intensive editing that includes proofreading and tech editing services.

 

Qualifications/Experience

    Required:

·  Proficient with Microsoft Office (Specifically Word, to include Desktop Editing, Styles, and Advanced Formatting)

·  Demonstrated ability to interact and communicate with client’s executive level management team

·  2 years of technical editing or professional writing or copy writing

    Desired:

·  Government Contracting Experience or Prior Military Service Preferred

 

Education Requirements

·  BS/BA degree is required (English, Journalism, or Engineering is preferred)

·  MS/MA degree is preferred (Concentration in Humanities or Engineering-Related Field)
